Abdominoplasty Surgery (Tummy Tuck)

A number of factors can cause the skin of the abdomen to become loose and sag, including:

  • The natural aging process can contribute
  • Excessive stretching of skin and muscles during pregnancy which may result in unsightly loose skin and weakened and separated underlying muscles after childbirth. This can be particularly marked in a multiple pregnancy.
  • Excessive weight gain, which can substantially stretch the skin of the abdomen with resulting sagging excess skin and fat after subsequent weight loss.

A careful diet and exercise programme can help some but it will not always totally eliminate the problem. In these cases, surgical correction (an Abdominoplasty) may be the best option to remove the excess skin and fat and tighten weakened or separated muscles, creating a firmer and more youthful looking waistline and tummy profile.

If you are considering tummy tuck surgery, then there are a number of factors that need to be taken into account to ensure that the abdominoplasty procedure is as successful and stress-free as possible.
