A number of factors can cause the skin of the abdomen to become loose and sag, including:

  • The natural aging process
  • Excessive stretching of skin and muscles during pregnancy, resulting in unsightly loose skin and weakened or separated underlying muscles after childbirth. This is particularly likely to occur in a multiple pregnancy.
  • Excessive weight gain and subsequent substantial weight loss, which can substantially stretch the skin of the abdomen with resulting sagging excess skin and fat.

A careful diet and exercise programme can help reduce the appearance of sagging skin, but it will not always totally eliminate the problem. In these cases, an abdominoplasty (or tummy tuck) is the best option available to remove the excess skin and fat and tighten weakened or separated muscles, creating a firmer and more youthful looking waistline and tummy profile.

If you are considering tummy tuck surgery, there are a number of factors that need to be taken into account to ensure that the procedure is as successful and stress-free as possible. Mr. Fallahdar performs both female tummy tuck and male tummy tuck procedures. Please call us today on 07771 923 019 to arrange your consultation, or email if you have any further questions.
